Style Crush: Dian Pelangi

Dian Pelangi is a young Indonesian fashion designer whose style I really love. You can see some of her designs here, and read more about her in this great article from the Jakarta Globe.

Dian has kindly given me permission to post some of her pictures, and I had a hard time choosing! This girl works colour in such a stylish way; and it may come as no surprise; 'Pelangi' translates to 'rainbow'.

I also love one of the ways she styles her hijab, as per the pictures below and the centre image in the collage. It's difficult to find square hijab styles, but try this out: after folding a square scarf into a triangle, and placing on the head, take one end and pin to your undercap just by the ear, leaving the other end free to drape over your shoulder. Simple and elegant - love it!

Salaams, I love her style..so feminine and modest. Pretty colors, love them all. I too wear square hijab, and find them the most versitile and comfortable...no so many hot layers to deal with. I'm going to try her style of wearing one, very soft and pretty. Thank you for the post :-)

The first picture is absolutely stunning!!! It has a light, romantic feel to it. Lovely!!! I also see her tie-dye signature. Is there a way for us to buy her creations?

I reaaaally love the fact that she doesn't layer the maxi dress with a tight sleeve shirt inside like what others usually do when they wear maxi dresses, instead she opts for cardigans and jackets! She definitely brings a whole fresh look to Islamic fasion mashaAllah. I was just wondering if she sells any of her designs, I live in Jakarta Indonesia but I never come across any of her products except the ones in the frequent Islamic fashion shows -and they're not even for sale! So if you and any of you happen to know either her physical shop or an online one do let us know inshaAllah =) Kudos to Dian's style and for Hijab Style for posting this awesomeness mashaAllah!

She is just too cute! Her style is so romantic and fresh at the same time. The world of modesty could learn from all your designers. I am not Muslim but modest in my dress and now thru your site I can finally dress in style. I love scarves and wear them often, never been mistaken for being Muslim in my dress and blame the American gov't for the bad attitude toward Muslims (yes I am an American). Thank you for your site, keep up the good work and never let other's prejudice be in charge!!!!! I tell all where I get my fashion idea's as I love your site and hope to help spread the modesty way of life!!!!!

@ Sher: Yes, nicely put....help to spread the modest way of life, which is not only about our dress/scarves, but a perspective on how we present ourselves to the world--for the sake of Allah.

Sisters, if u don't already know, this is Dian Pelangi's website:

http://dianpelangi.com/

U can find their stores locations in Indonesia there. According to the page, they only sell their products through their stores, they don't sell online yet.
