Dubai Fashion Week A/W 2010

The 7th season of Dubai Fashion Week is in full swing, with many Muslimah designers including Amal Murad, Mariam Al-Mazro and Reem & Hind Beljafla showcasing their collections on the first day. But UAE newspaper The National writes in this article that the event "has yet to be taken seriously by most fashion players", and that more attention needs to be given to local designers, as this article also highlights.

Interestingly, this is also the first time I've noticed Dubai bloggers actually covering the shows; previously you were hard pressed to find anything apart from some news site photos.

Dubai's It Girl has plenty of photos from the shows on Day 1, whilst Urban Souq also has an interview with Reem & Hind, the founders of DAS Collection .

I love long flowy dresses, and beautiful ones that also feature long sleeves are so hard to come by. On that 'Dubai's It Girl' link, MIMI designs are gorgeous.

Congratulations to the wonderful Muslimah designers! Love all the colors and ethnic-look designs. And YES! there are sleeves:-) The designer's abaya is beautiful. would love to see that available.
