I was recently interviewed about the blog for French website Association IMS. You can see part one of the interview here, with part two coming soon!
How had you this idea of creating a site of fashion for Muslim women ?
Jana : I started the blog in September 2007, after feeling frustrated at the lack of anything in the fashion media that was geared towards Muslim women and their clothing needs. There are plenty of magazines, websites and blogs that were talking about fashion, however Muslim women often face very particular problems when it comes to putting together outfits from high street shops that meet their criteria of modesty. So I saw that there was a need to have somewhere to address these problems and also to provide inspiration and encouragement to those wearing hijab.
As the UK’s first style guide for Muslim women, I post everything from outfit ideas, street style, articles, interviews with Muslim designers and coverage of Islamic fashion around the world.
So far the blog has received a lot of positive media attention, including being featured in The Guardian and Vogue.com.
