Hijab Style Alert: Jersey Scarves

Rabia Z

I'm not usually a fan of clothing made out of jersey, as most high street versions tend to be far too clingy and tight fitting. But ever since seeing some of Rabia Z's collections, I've wanted to try out jersey scarves as hijab, as opposed to the cotton and polyester ones that most scarves are made of. I just love the way jersey elegantly drapes and hangs, as well as the fact that the fabric is super-soft and comfortable. For a better idea of what I mean, take a look at this video interview of Rabia Z where she wears a black jersey scarf.

These are a few I found from online retailers, H&M also do several nice ones. But of course, it's always cheaper to make your own - check out this guide on how to make your own no-sew jersey scarf. Is this something you'll be trying out?

Jersey Scarves

Cobalt jersey snood £12, Dorothy Perkins; viscose jersey scarf £15, Esprit; Jodie jersey scarf £15, Ascension; stud embellished scarf £16, Promod.

I own a few jersey scarves that I found on sale at target and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. It is like wearing your favorite worn in t-shirt around your face, lol. Very comfortable. :-D

Thanks for this Jana. Like you I would never have considered jersey hijabs had I not just watched Rabia Z interview, and seen her collection.

Assalamu alaikom,
I've been curious about using the jersey scarves at Target as hijab for a few years without actually doing it. Thanks for blogging about it, you've convinced me to finally get around to trying it. :)

Jana, have you seen the January issue of Glamour UK? They have a good fashion spread about grunge featuring maxi dresses.

There's one grey maxi dress/jumper combo I thought very nice.

I usually wear black chiffon shaylas but I think jersey scarves are great for exercising :)
