Hijabi Style: Raluca

Reader's Contribution

Hijabi Style: Raluca

I live in Romania in a small city called Cluj-Napoca. There are a lot of Muslims in Romania who come to study medicine, pharmacy, and so on. I personally am a Christian, but maybe one day I will become Muslim.

My Style

I love clothes and I like shopping! Everytime I go shopping I always look out for something that will match with the clothes I already have. I usually wear tunics and large blouses with jeans; I like to have my own style and to be different from other people. I love accessories such as handbags, shoes, watches, scarves, and lots of bangles! My favourite colour is pink but I also like black, purple, red, blue, green and white.

I feel that wearing hijab and dressing with modesty, and also with a little bit of style, makes me more calm and confident. My parents don't really like me to dress like this, but I don't care.

Top Tip

My number one tip is to be confident, and not to listen to what others say about you and what are you wearing. As long as it's your choice, let people judge you as they want, and be indifferent when they say something about you.

What did you think of Raluca's style? If you want to be featured on Hijab Style, send in your photos and top tips to hijabstyle @ hotmail . co . uk

Readers will be able to vote for their favourite entry of the Spring/Summer edition on August 31st, and the winner will receive a FREE hijab of their choice from The Hijab Shop.

I love hearing input from a fellow Christian on the idea of modesty. I'm older and have been going back and forth on going "modest" and I'm leaning more and more towards this; hence the reason I'm following this blog! :D

As a Catholic Christian who is interested in headcoverings and modest clothes, I like how a non-Muslim hijabi is being featured! Very pretty. Maybe when I start covering I should send in pictures of myself to be featured.

I am glad you see beauty in dressing modestly and wearing the hijab. Personally, I think the hijab makes one look so chic and elegant. I just wish I had the strength to wear it!

I tried to post a comment before, but for some reason it hasn't gone through. But I have an update: for those who don't know, I am a Christian too, and today I put on hijab!

Wow, I did not know that there are some Christians out there who like to wear hijab. That is quite a surprising (and interesting) fact. And to Raluca: it would be wise for you to make some introspection before you really decide to convert to Islam. I am not discouraging you; I just want you to have no regret when you convert to Islam later.

Sierra, Yeah, we do exist. A lot of Christians who cover full-time are doing it not just for modesty, but because it has associations with prayer, and there's a verse in the Bible that talks about praying without ceasing... And I once had a roommate at university, actually, who covered her head all the time (not with hijab, but nonetheless) for that kind of reasons.

wow, this is so enlightening to me...I never thought a fellow Christian (well I'm agnostic but have a lot of Muslim friends) would look so much like a devout Muslim woman. All the power to you, you look beautiful.

You look so cute and hip!

You go girl! The hijab is not removed from Christianity and being modest is a requirement too! How refreshing mashallah that you featured this and she covers. May Allah (swt) guide you inshallah.

Masha'Allah Raluca you look beautiful!

I'm coming to Cluj in 3 weeks to start med school so it's been on my mind a lot lately and it's a big coincidence to see you're from there as well as I don't come across many Romanians.

Yeah you'd see many Orthodox Christian women covering their heads with a scarf in the Balkans.

My name is Shanelle, a Baptist, and I have made the decision to start wearing hijab. I have started a Christians wearing/or want to wear Hijab grop in msn.com. However, this group is open to all Christians who want/are covering. Please email me at: smillen05@hotmail.com if you are interested in joing. This group is meant to support, provide head covering knowledge, and to share experiences with other head covering Christians. Praise God and God bless you all.

P.S. I am so proud of you for wearing hijab as a testament to your faith and obedience to God. I really love your style and will use it as a basis to finding my own modest style. Keep on keeping on, my sister in Christ!

I have now started my own blog, which contains, among other things, the story of how I started wearing hijab. This post was sort of the final tipping point, and I've linked to it here:
