Indian Inspiration

Vikram Phadnis is a renowned Indian designer who took part in Dubai Fashion Week in April. These are some photos from the show. Of course, the beautiful Indian embroidery makes these pieces simply stunning, but what's more is that many of them are hijab-friendly. Long coats over churidar and full length dresses sure make for elegantly modest South Asian outfits:

Wow, a sari with a long-sleeved choli that covers the midriff! I didn't know it was possible! I am impressed. Everything else is gorgeous too!

I'm in love with them all, especially the Sari as another Sister pointed out -- I've never worn one as the sleeves were either too short or the top was too short. Love it!

These creations are so inspiring to take up sewing... the first 2 wouldn't be difficult to make with a good dress pattern!

Stunning stuff. The red dress is just gorgeous, and the black velvet jacket over the turquoise dress is a close second. More additions to my If-I-had-as-many-gold-dinars-as-JK Rowling fantasy wardrobe. ::sigh:: Thanks Jana.
