Hijab with Earrings

Long, dangly earrings peaking out from a hijab can look really nice for an evening event or special occasion, but it can be hard to get it right without uncovering your ears. Courtesy of the funniest hijabi on the net, Sabrina from Slice of Lemon shows us how to wrap her hijab style with earrings. But even if you don't fancy wearing them, the style is also really simple and a great one for summer, as it eliminates the need for pins underneath the chin:

Dilshad, you're welcome :D

Suslique, maybe it depends on face shape? So many times I've tried styles that just don't look like they do in the instructions!

Maryam, it's blog policy not to post those sorts of comments to avoid arguments, but I suggest you take a look at what Sabrina said about the issue when she first posted this video:

i think earrings cn b pulled off by very few ppl...it just attracts alotta attention...the hijab style is xactly how i do mine xcept the slight of instead of the 1st pin i use a pin under chin..so tried this way but found over time the scarf slips bkwards n cn reveal lil hairs - sideburns n im not prticularly hairy!! lol

Sabrina's hijab really is put on expertly MashAllah, can't see a hair. I always thought the earring thing/hijab can't be pulled off but it appears to work quite well here. I have seen it botched up big time winding up looking like a major hairy sideburn job and as such, always avoided it -- but this is good! Does she have an email add? I need advice on career wear.

I do this at work all the time but just with smaller earrings which don't attract so much attention but still make for a different look. And if its for an event, i just add longer earrings.

Wa Salamulaykum,
The best instructional video i've seen so far...she gives very good step by step details. i'm going to try this. Although I have shorter hair and don't have a ponytail, i think this will work for me.
thanks Jana

Loves it.
i just tryed it on in the mirror, i have same hijabs as her, so it works. And even better with my face shape the style covers my ears totally adn my hair. But i dont wear earnings with it. i just have large broches, and hair slides to accesorise with. :D
But i don't like the big hump in the back. I think the Prophet SAw mentioned this abotu women of the ummah in the future. Wearing clothign but naked and will have camel humps ontop of thier heads. hmmm. sounds liek it fits the description. I do this style but without exgaerating my bun at that back.

Aisha, it works for me, try refreshing the page maybe?

Saloua, glad you like it! Regards the hadith, I think a) We need to look at the actual wording rather than paraphrase it ourselves and b) It's not up to us to make ignorant judgements of a hadith's meanings. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that tying your hair in a bun is forbidden. What exactly are you supposed to do if your hair is long? Can we please use a little common sense and do our research before jumping to conclusions on the minutae? You can read this fatwa for a more detailed explanation:
