We've all probably seen the numerous model shots of Gulf style abayas and shaylas, but here's a taster of what (real) stylish ladies are wearing in the Emirates now. Any favourites?
The "point" I guess is that in the Gulf, the abaya and shayla are often cultural garments rather than religious ones. The ladies with their hair showing may not necessarily class themselves as wearing 'hijab', but simply wearing this clothing because it is their culture. And I'd much rather a woman wore a loose abaya with hair showing than having all her hair covered up but clad in tight clothing...
I love the middle one on the left... Sooo awsome... Adding a little color to the black of the abaya :D and seems most casual for my taste... Thanx for the post
My favorite is the fourth. I love the blousson type sleeves. When I was in Dubai I couldn't believe it. Sure most everyone was wearing black, but it was all so beautiful and varied. Never have I seen so much black! That was so stylish. In Saudi, it's just a lot of black, but very plain.
salam, the pictures are nice, very fashion forward.
I am stopping over in dubai for 2days only for abaya shopping, can anyone please name some good malls where I can shop for abayas and hijab in a short period? It will be a great help.
Sr. Wahi, Dubai is a city of malls so basically you just need to walk into any mall and get the abayya you need. "Emirates Mall" is pretty good! And ofcourse cant go wrong with Black ... I agree with the sister who commented about hijab being culture for them and not adhering to our religion, which is sad ofcourse. just my 2cents
can anyone tell me..............what arab girls wear under their scarf to have a elongated look.i simply love the way they wear the shayla.please help me out

What's the point of a long abayah when your hair is showing?

I don't think women in the gulf can wear colours other than black (out in public anyways), can they? I'd sure want to be wearing a lighter colour!

Of course we are allowed to wear colored clothes in the gulf megan...its just a personal preference
