Syrian Street Style

I previously posted on hijab in Lebanon, but it's across the border now to Bilad Ash-Shaam. Annoyingly enough, the most popular image that comes up when you Google 'Syrian hijab' is this cartoon. But these are photos of some real (and rather better dressed) hijabis:

This girl is adorable masha'Allah! I love the added headband with the butterfly - too cute!

I love the idea of wearing a roll-neck top, with the hijab loose around your head. If you want to try this out, I suggest a stretch roll-neck, and pinning it to the cotton bonnet cap for added security:

Looking chic on a cold winter morning. Notice the traditional carved wooden door behind them:

Love the variety of colours here. But an orange Burberry print hijab??

For the looser style, you will need a lot of pins and a wider piece of fabric like a shawl of some type. It seems like she probably put her hair in a bun and attached a bonnet of some type over it, followed by the hijab, which lpoks like it's pinned and scrunched to give a bulkier, looser style.

the loose look is very popular with some girls in the gulf too. i think it's very nice, and seems elegant.
love most of the pictures.

it's amazing how different Syrian style to Egyptian style if you think of it.

this is super late, but this post is super helpful as I'm leaving to study abroad in Syria, um, tomorrow (late packing, anyone?) and it's nice to know I can pretty much dress like I do here, and also that it's not too crazy to do some accessorizing too. :)
