Dubai Street Style

This video from Dubai is part of the Street Styles series posted on Current. It includes two hijabis talking about fashion and style in Dubai. I wasn't that impressed with the first girl's outfit - tunic over skinny jeans isn't exactly 'different' or original. However, I loved the outfit the second girl was wearing. I've put together one that's just like it, even down to the shaker ring :D Unfortunatey, the only beige poncho I could find was this Tomas Maier one on net-a-porter for £620. Which has me thinking, wasn't she hot wearing that thing in the Dubai heat? Take a look for yourselves:

Get the look:

Tomas Maier cashmere poncho £620, net-a-porter; brown hijab £1.49, 2hijab; brown wide leg trousers £35, Promod; sunglasses £7, Dorothy Perkins; brown roll neck £11, La Redoute; pearl shaker ring £8, Accessorize; pointed ankle boot £35; Barratts; wooden bead necklace £12, French Connection; tan bag £18, Dorothy Perkins.

This is my first visit to your blog and really impressed with what you just did. As a Muslim women from Malaysia, I also interested to know how to mix and match fashionable clothing to give a great look.

O Jana you amuse me so. Although I must admit, I do agree with you with the poncho hijabi's outfit. She looked way cool.
The only thing is, ponchos ar ehard to come by in high street these days. And when they do come about, they're either hideous, common or damn right falling apart after a few wears.
They're also hard to wear under coats.
However, thanks to this entry, I am definitely keping my eye out for one this winter.

Ammena, you have a quite a knack for bargains don't you? I've seen quite a few capes around, but nothing as nice as this.

i thought that girl wearing the poncho looked funky... though ponchos are out of fashion, but it looked good. her hijab looked funky. the girl wearing the big shades on the video front page, i like what shes wearing, something i would wear myself.

If something looks good on you than you should wear it.Nothing is 'out of fashion'.That's my opinion.

i think it looks so funky when hijabis wear shades, i havent got the guts to wear it though. although it would come in handy when driving in sunny weather..!

Salam, everybody!

Don't u all think that the girl wearing the big shades on the video front page, resembles Angelina Jolie??

I love the outfit you made, and love the outfit the sisters wears in the video too.. only her hijab is a little bit too 'funky' for me, her head looks strange ...
by the way; at the end, when she laugs she sounds/looks like jennifer lopez!

Lol, I think spending 620 pounds on a poncho should be a crime, even if your rich!

Wow.. i didn't think my simple previous statement of 'ponchos are out' would cause such a stir. Sorry to offend anyone but I thought I'd just state the obvious coz this blog is about style and fashion. but I also do agree that if something suits you, you should wear it, and just coz something is 'in fashion' doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna suit you.
that's my opinion
