Muslimah Maternity Clothing

I received a request a few days ago to find 'some modestly stylish pieces for a 'blooming' muslimah'.

If you are pregnant, congratulations! I hope all goes well for you, and you enjoy this wonderful time. Remember that when shopping for maternity clothes, your first priority should be comfort. Mothercare has a good guide to buying maternity clothing here.

Next, Mothercare and Mamas and Papas all have really good ranges of maternity clothes. You can also find some maternity pieces at stores such as Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and New Look. You don't necessarily have to buy a whole new wardrobe though! If you buy a few maternity tunic tops and dresses, you can still wear pre-pregnancy cardigans and jackets over them, with the buttons left undone.

If you usually wear an abaya, consider having a few custom made. If you a know a really clever seamstress, she may even be able to take them in again after the pregnancy, so you can continue to wear them. Here are a few great maternity pieces:

I am a mother and I found it so hard to get clothes that actually covered my bump, I tried all the high street shops but i found that I had to end up wearing layers of clothes to cover up that low neck or cut short the dress that was way too long as I am only 4ft 11. But a friend told me to go on the net and after a long look through so much rubbish I actually come across a sister giving a review on a Modest Maternity Garment her husband bought off ebay for her. I went on there and bought this maternity long black dress which had a opening at the front but covered me in all the right places plus it was fitting at the back so it wasnt so big and baggy on me, the dress was made by Hayawomen.
I would recommend this as I am still wearing the dress whilst feeding my child.

Hafeeza Noor said... has the best maternity clothing line if anyone is looking for modest wear. I'd ordered clothes from them only during my maternity period. They have some really great maternity wear. Great designs and the best thing is I'm still wearing few of them even after the maternity period.
